Ageing being one of the societal challenges tackled by European standardisation, AGE Platform Europe, partner in the PROGRESSIVE project, was offered the opportunity to present the project on the occasion of the Multi Stakeholder Platform on ICT Standardisation (MSP-ICT) that gathered in December ‘17 at the European Commission premises in Brussels.
The MSP ICT is an advisory expert group of which AGE Platform Europe is a member. The Platform was set up in 2011 following a decision of the European Commission to receive advice from European stakeholders on the implementation of ICT standardisation policies. The MSP ICT is, among other things, in charge of the preparation of the annual Rolling Plan that provides an overview of the gaps and needs for revisions of ICT standards.
During the Platform’s meeting on 7 December 2017, AGE presented the PROGRESSIVE mindset and scope with a view to awaken the stakeholders’ interest and awareness on the need to change their approach and methods to address the challenges of ageing. It made reference to the World Health Organisation definition of age-friendliness and proposed different areas for co-working with the different European standardisation stakeholders in the frame of the Rolling Plan.
